Kamba Leaders Declare Support for Ruto, Demand Cabinet Slot in Kenya Kwanza
a section of Kamba leaders led by the Anzauni clan have announced a shift to support President Ruto, calling for a Cabinet slot and development projects for Ukambani.
In a dramatic turn of events, a group of Kamba leaders, led by the influential Anzauni clan, has announced plans to abandon opposition politics and align with President William Ruto’s administration. The move, unveiled during a high-profile Thanksgiving dinner at the Kitui Central residence of National Liberal Party (NLP) leader Dr. Augustus Muli, marks a significant political realignment for the region.
“We are tired of being spectators in Kenya’s development arena,” declared Dr. Muli. “The Anzauni clan has resolved to work with the government of the day. We are ready to sit at the table, not as guests, but as active participants shaping the future of our people.”
Dr. Muli’s statement drew applause from the gathering of influential leaders, who urged President Ruto to appoint a Cabinet Secretary from Ukambani to signify the region’s inclusion in the Kenya Kwanza government.
Anzauni elder David Mwoni criticized decades of opposition politics, which he blamed for the region’s underdevelopment. “Our region has been ignored for far too long because of bad political choices,” he said. “It’s time for the Kamba people to stand with the winning side.”
Former political aspirants and business leaders, including Tom Luusa, Moses Banda, and Engineer Dennis Mwangangi, echoed Mwoni’s sentiments, warning that failure to align with the current administration could marginalize the region further.
“This is not about politics anymore; it’s about survival,” Mwangangi stated emphatically. “If Ruto wants peace and unity, he must give Kambas a Cabinet Secretary. We demand our place at the national table.”
The leaders vowed to lobby for more government projects and positions, with insiders revealing that talks with high-ranking Kenya Kwanza officials are already underway.
The Thanksgiving dinner, initially planned as a private event, quickly turned into a rallying call for unity and proactive engagement with the government. Attendees emphasized the need for the region to shed its opposition identity and secure tangible benefits for its people.
