A Man From Nakuru County Dies After Wife Allegedly Poured Acid on Him During Dispute.

On December 5, 2024, 52-year-old businessman Elijah Matoke was reportedly attacked with acid in his Kaptembwo home in Nakuru County. According to reports, his second wife, Ruth Jelang'at, allegedly poured acid on him during a domestic dispute. 

Following the incident, Mr. Matoke was rushed to Nakuru County Referral Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries four days later.  Authorities arrested Ms. Jelang'at and her son in connection with the attack. 

The case has drawn attention from various organizations, including Usikimye, a trauma-informed and survivor-centered group dedicated to ending sexual and gender-based violence. Usikimye has been in contact with Mr. Matoke's family, offering grief counseling and support. 

Mr. Matoke's daughter, Claris, is actively seeking justice for her father. She has reported receiving threats from her stepbrother, who was released from custody. The family is appealing for legal assistance to represent them in the ongoing case in Nakuru court. 

This incident highlights the pressing issue of domestic violence and the need for comprehensive support systems for victims and their families. Organizations like Usikimye continue to play a crucial role in providing assistance and advocating for justice in such cases.
