Makueni County ECM Dr. Sonia Nzilani Suspended Over Menstruation Remarks

Dr. Sonia Nzilani, the Makueni County Executive Committee Member (ECM) for Trade, Marketing, Industry, Culture, and Tourism, has been suspended for 45 days following controversial remarks linking a crocodile attack to menstruation. Speaking at a funeral in Kathonzweni, Dr. Nzilani alleged that crocodiles are attracted to menstrual blood, sparking public outrage.

The statement has been widely criticized as baseless and disrespectful. Medical experts, including immunologist Dr. Paul Mutua, have refuted the claim, emphasizing that crocodile attacks are driven by predatory instincts and human activity near water.
