Kenya Hosts “Group of Death” in the 2024 TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship

The highly anticipated draw for the 2024 TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) was held on January 15, 2025, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. The tournament, featuring players exclusively from domestic leagues, will be hosted across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania in August 2025, marking a historic first for joint hosting in East Africa.

Group Stage Highlights

• Group A: Hosts Kenya are placed alongside two-time champions Morocco, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Angola, and Zambia. This grouping is widely regarded as the "Group of Death" due to the high caliber of the teams involved. 
• Group D: Defending champions Senegal will face Congo, Sudan, and Nigeria, promising a series of competitive fixtures. 

Two spots remain open for qualifiers, with Algeria, Comoros, Gambia, Malawi, Egypt, South Africa, and Gabon vying for the final slots.
