On Tuesday morning, a young boy was beaten by a mob near Masaku Plaza in Mlolongo after being accused of defiling a girl. The girl’s family, upset by the situation, claimed she was a minor and led the mob in attacking the boy. However, the truth unfolded differently when the girl revealed she was over 18 and had a scanned copy of her ID to prove it.
The incident took place after the two had spent the night out, leading the family to assume they had been engaging in inappropriate activities. Despite the girl’s attempts to defend her boyfriend, her family refused to listen. Only when she produced a scanned copy of her identification did the crowd calm down and stop the attack.
The young boy was later rushed to the hospital for treatment. It’s still unclear if he will file a report with the police, but this incident raises serious concerns about the protection of the boy child in such situations.
