“Punda Amechoka”: Mlolongo Residents Confront Local MCA.
Mlolongo residents protest poor roads, forcing MCA Daniel Mutinda to walk through flooded waters on Chady Road. Infrastructure neglect fuels local frustration.
In Mlolongo, Nairobi, Mlolongo Ward MCA Daniel Mutinda was forced by residents to walk through filthy, flooded waters to witness firsthand the deplorable road conditions they endure. The incident occurred on Chady Road in Mlolongo, a stretch notorious for poor drainage and recurring damage due to heavy rains and traffic from nearby quarries. Despite prior rehabilitation efforts, the area remains problematic, with residents expressing anger over perceived government inaction.
During the protest, residents emphasized their frustrations, chanting slogans like "Punda amechoka" and demanding accountability. Beyond roads, residents have raised concerns about declining living conditions in the ward. Waste management, drainage systems, and public spaces remain neglected, leaving neighborhoods prone to flooding and health hazards. The lack of tangible action from local authorities has fueled anger, with many questioning whether their votes have translated into meaningful representation.
This events comes, months after Sirende Ward MCA Alfred Weswa faced a similar confrontation in Trans Nzoia County, where angry residents halted his car and demanded he walk along a muddy road.
