2024 KCSE Results Announced: 1,693 A Grades, University Entry Updates

The 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results have been officially released by Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba at the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) headquarters in Nairobi. This year, a record 965,501 candidates sat for the examinations across 10,755 centers nationwide, reflecting a notable increase from the 903,138 candidates who took the exams in 2023. The results showcase significant academic achievements, with 1,693 candidates attaining a mean grade of A (plain), highlighting the high performance of top students. Moreover, approximately 246,391 candidates earned a mean grade of C+ and above, meeting the minimum requirements for university admission.

Students can access their results through various platforms. The KNEC online portal provides a convenient option by allowing candidates to input their 11-digit index numbers and registered names to view and print their results. Additionally, results are available via SMS by sending the candidate’s index number to 20076, ensuring quick and straightforward access. Both methods have been optimized to accommodate the high number of students and parents seeking immediate information.

For those who have met the university entry requirements, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) will soon guide students through the placement process, including course selection and admission details. Meanwhile, candidates who did not qualify for university are encouraged to explore alternative pathways, such as enrolling in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions. These institutions offer a variety of practical and technical courses designed to prepare learners for the job market.

The release of the KCSE results marks a pivotal moment for candidates, families, and educators alike. It serves as a testament to the resilience and dedication of the students who prepared for these exams despite numerous challenges. As the education sector continues to evolve, the government’s emphasis on fostering equity and improving access to diverse educational opportunities remains central to the country’s academic progression.
