Tragic Multi-Vehicle Accident Near Migaa Claims Six Lives on Eldoret-Nakuru Road

At least six people tragically lost their lives, and over 40 others were injured in a multi-vehicle accident near the Migaa area, close to Salgaa, along the Eldoret-Nakuru road early this morning.
The accident, which took place around 5 am, involved several vehicles, including a bus traveling from Kericho toward Nakuru. According to witnesses, the bus, en route to Mombasa, reportedly lost its brakes while navigating a steep section of the notorious Salgaa stretch.

The bus driver, unable to control the speeding vehicle, crashed into barriers before colliding with other vehicles, ultimately veering off the road and landing in a ditch.
Rift Valley Regional Police Commander Jasper Ombati confirmed that police and Kenya Red Cross teams swiftly responded to the scene. "We have a team on the ground coordinating the rescue mission," said Ombati.

Rescue workers, including police officers and Kenya Red Cross personnel, have been working tirelessly to assist the injured and clear the wreckage. The injured passengers were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals, including Molo and Coptic Hospitals, where they are currently receiving treatment.
In a statement, the Kenya Red Cross emphasized the ongoing rescue efforts, noting, "The injured individuals have been taken to Molo and Coptic Hospitals following a road traffic incident. The Kenya Red Cross, alongside a multi-agency response team, is still at the scene providing assistance."
Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. This tragic incident has once again highlighted the dangerous nature of the Eldoret-Nakuru road, especially near the Salgaa area, which is notorious for its deadly curves and frequent accidents.
