Child Killed, Two Injured in Lorry Accident on Gossip Road, Mlolongo

A tragic accident this evening on Gossip Road in Mlolongo has claimed the life of a young boy and left two others injured, including a pregnant woman. An overloaded lorry carrying construction bricks from Phase 3 has lost control while climbing uphill and rolled backward.

The victim, identified as Chris, aged 3 to 4, has been walking with his father to buy Koko fuel when the lorry struck, killing him on the spot. Witnesses say the truck has crashed into a roadside kiosk (kibanda), seriously injuring the owner and damaging the structure. Another man has suffered a head injury from falling bricks.

Locals have blamed the accident on the lorry’s overload and the poor condition of Gossip Road, which has been a major concern for residents in Mlolongo and Kasina. Many have called for urgent road repairs and stricter regulation of heavy trucks.

Emergency responders have taken the injured to Shalom Hospital, while the child’s body has been moved to Shalom Mortuary. The incident has sparked renewed demands for improved road safety and infrastructure.
