LDP and Civil Society Unite to Push for Inclusive Policies to Prevent Election Violence in 2027

Rosemary Asimba, Party Leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Kenya, emphasized the urgent need for inclusive policymaking to address Kenya's governance challenges at a recent workshop in Nairobi organized by the International Republican Institute (IRI). The event brought together key stakeholders, including civil society leaders, government officials, and youth representatives, to discuss strategies for promoting democratic reforms and preventing election-related violence.

Asimba highlighted the urgent need for inclusive policymaking to address the root causes of election-related violence, including ethnic divisions, unequal access to political power, and economic marginalization. She emphasized that sustainable peace and democracy can only be achieved by ensuring all Kenyans, especially marginalized groups, have a voice in governance.

“A strong democracy is built on inclusion. Every Kenyan must be heard, and every community must see their concerns reflected in policy decisions,” said Asimba, reaffirming LDP’s commitment to grassroots representation.

The workshop also introduced innovative solutions to enhance citizen engagement, such as an SMS platform designed to improve communication between county assemblies and their constituents. Asimba welcomed the initiative, noting that such tools can bridge the gap between leaders and the people, fostering greater accountability and trust in democratic institutions.

As Kenya approaches the 2027 elections, LDP’s collaboration with IRI and other stakeholders signals a renewed focus on electoral integrity, peacebuilding, and equitable governance. Through continued dialogue and proactive measures, LDP aims to lead the way toward a more inclusive and democratic future for Kenya.
