MP Peter Salasya Urges President Ruto to Hire Him as Advisor to Fix SHA and Help Sugarcane Farmers

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has publicly called on President William Ruto to employ him as a close advisor, arguing that the current team surrounding the President is failing him. Speaking during an event in Mumias attended by President Ruto, Salasya criticized the implementation of key government programs, particularly the Social Health Authority (SHA) and the university funding model. He claimed these initiatives are not working effectively due to misinformation from the President’s advisors.

Salasya, who addressed the issue during the launch of bonus payments for sugarcane farmers in Mumias, emphasized that successful government policies require proper input from stakeholders. He warned that the financial burden placed on citizens, including increased deductions for the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), could erode the President’s popularity ahead of the next election.

Salasya further noted that effective communication and accurate feedback are essential for the success of government programs like SHA. He also urged the government to ensure its initiatives address the needs of sugarcane farmers in Mumias, many of whom are grappling with challenges in the agricultural sector.
