Warning: Mlolongo Bodaboda Riders Urged to Avoid Dangerous Route

Bodaboda riders in Mlolongo have been warned to avoid using route around the idle estate in Kathangaita near the railway line due to rising safety concerns. Alex Mutuku, the chairperson of the Bodaboda Association, reports that riders have become targets for robbery, especially at night.

“We have seen a disturbing trend where customers lure our riders to this route at night, only to turn on them and rob them,” Mutuku stated. “So far, there have been eight reported cases of bodaboda riders being robbed of their motorbikes at night.”

The situation is alarming, and Mutuku is urging all bodaboda riders to be vigilant and steer clear of the dangerous route. “We want to ask bodaboda riders to be careful and avoid this area. We have people coming from Nairobi, Eastleigh, and Westlands who come here at night to rob our riders,” he added.

In response to these incidents, Mutuku is calling on the landowner to take action by fencing the area to deter robbers. “We need the owner of the land to fence it to help curb this menace. Security measures are essential to protect our riders,” he said.

Moreover, he is appealing to the police and local administration to install security lights in the region. “Lighting is crucial to making this area safer. We need the police and local authorities to act quickly and ensure the safety of our bodaboda riders.”
